Which database design is easiest for analytics?
Which database design is easiest for analytics?

Star schema is easier to understand for me because the fact table is in the middle and there is no hierarchy and no need to go through any junction tables to reach the dimension tables. It is useful to keep queries simple and can be employed for reports and business intelligence. The major tradeoff is that there is some data duplication in dimensions. For those creating an analytics system and don't know where to begin, you can use Datalance as a resource to develop understanding of some of the choices you might be considering when considering data architecture. This strategy would be my first choice if simplicity of the query and reporting performance are more important than minimizing redundancies.
