The rear of my Challenger is bouncing like a trampoline

Post Posted: Fri Jul 10, 2026 8:57 am

I've had my Challenger R/T for about four years now and I've always loved the way it rides, firm but controlled with that classic muscle car feel, but recently the rear end has started bouncing all over the place whenever I hit even the smallest bump on the road, and it's honestly getting to the point where I feel like I'm driving a lowrider from the 90s. I noticed it first on the way back from Abu Dhabi where the road surfaces get a bit uneven, and the rear just wouldn't settle, it kept bouncing and bouncing for what felt like ages after every little dip, which tells me the shock absorbers are probably completely shot. I've had a quick look underneath and there's no obvious oil leakage or broken springs, but I know these cars can suffer from worn shocks internally without any external signs, especially with the kind of heat we get here in the summer. I've been thinking about getting them replaced for a while now, but I'm not sure whether to go with Mopar parts or something aftermarket, and I've heard mixed things about the ride quality of some of the cheaper options out there. A colleague at work who has a Charger mentioned that he had his done recently and found a workshop that actually knew what they were doing with these heavy cars, which is reassuring because I've heard horror stories about places that put the wrong shocks on and then the car rides even worse than before. I've been looking for a Quality Dodge shock absorber replacement in Al Wasl because I've heard there are a few good American car specialists in that area that won't rip me off or use cheap parts that'll fail in a year. Has anyone here replaced the shocks on their Challenger or Charger recently, and can you give me some advice on what brand to go for and roughly what I should expect to pay for the whole job including installation? I really don't want to keep driving around with this bouncing issue because it's making the car feel unsafe, especially when I'm cornering and the rear end starts moving around mid-bend.
