Answer
Can I design my own reports?

Yes. Underneath KISS Contacts is an Access database. This means that you can use a range of industry standard report writers to design your own reports. We suggest that Access and Excel are good routes.

Can I do mail merge to Word?

Yes. To do mail merges from within Word, please try the following.

Open Word and create the letter/document you want to merge.

Use the menu Tools>Mail merge and follow the instructions for mail merge.

This may take a couple of goes to get the result exactly as you want it, but provides great flexibility to do mail merges on almost any basis you want.

Can I import data from other systems?

Yes. There are 2 options.

You can define a query from within Access to write the data to the KISS Contacts tables. Underneath KISS Contacts is an Access database. Please note this will require expertise in either queries or VB.

Or we will convert the data for you. You send the data by email or CD to us and we convert it and send it back by similar means. The usual charge is £360 per database, subject to sight of the database. We have extensive experience of converting databases.

Can I interface KISS Contacts to an accounts package?

Yes. Using the export facility, you can select the transactions you want to export (eg this months transactions) and create an export file. Then you use the import facility of the accounts package to bring them into the accounting system.

Do I need Access to run KISS Contacts?

The software is provided with a free run time version of Access to install which means you don’t need to purchase your own separate copy. At the same time you can also run a different version of Access on the same system id you wish to.

Do you provide training?

KIS stands for Keep It Simple and the idea is that if you are familiar with standard Windows software (eg Word, Excel or Access), KISS Contacts should seem instantly familiar.

There is also on line context sensitive help. If you are stuck, press F1 and the help system will explain what to do.

Additionally there is a User Guide that explains every option. We recommend that you print this off to keep for reference.

For first time users, there is also a KISS Tour which is a slide show that will provide an overview of its facilities.

However, if this is not enough we will be pleased to arrange a training session on site.

Does KISS Contacts work with Excel?

Yes. There are options for most report selections to export the data into Excel. Just click the Excel button on the form.
Conversely, you can import data from KISS Contacts into Excel. Open a new spreadsheet, then go Tools > Get External Data, navigate you way to the KISS Contacts database and open it. The tables will be listed. Select the one you want eg Transactions and the data will appear in the spreadsheet.
In either case you can do all the things you like to do in Excel, eg pivot tables, graphs etc.

Does KISS Contacts work with MS Office?

Yes, KISS Contacts fully integrates with MS Office. Reports can be opened into either Word or Excel. Appointments, tasks and reminders can be created in Outlook from within KISS Contacts. You can send emails from KISS Contacts via Outlook.

How do I validate addresses as I enter them?

There are a number of address validation software packages and these can be loaded and configured to work alongside KISS Contacts. This is the way they work. When you want to enter an address, you press the key you have designated to invoke the address software, search for and identify the address and then press the button provided by the address software and this will write the address back to KISS Contacts.

What support is offered?

Within the initial licence charge we include 12 months of support by email (we do not provide a telephone help desk service) and the provision of new versions of the software.

After the first year, we offer an annual maintenance contract which will continue to provide support by email and new versions of the software. For a one user licence, the charge is £60 for a year for the first user and £30 for each additional user.
